Polyunsaturated fatty acids slow the progression of ALS
admin@522a4445 Sunday 2nd July 2023, 17:19:27Conventional mTOR inhibitors such as rapamycin or metformin can improve neuron damage. Another important approach to combat neurodegenerative diseases is the use of natural products/compounds including antioxidants, flavonoids, polyphenols and polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs). Various studies in recent years have shown the beneficial effects of omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs) through various mechanisms including anti-inflammatory effects. The best-studied omega-3 fatty acids are docosahexaenoic acid (DHA), eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA), and α-linolenic acid (ALA).
